Is the Aero Garden organic?

The Aero Garden nutrient tablets consist of mineral salts and seaweed. These provide the 13 nutrients that all plants require, plus 65 additional micro-nutrients for additional vigor, in just the right proportions for each seed kit type. The tablets also contain a pH buffer, which enables you to grow using water straight from your tap, and a pharmaceutical grade binder to hold the tablets together.

Is the Aero Garden organic?
What most people really care about when they ask this question is “is my food free from chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides,” which the Aero Garden produce definitely is. The Aero Garden cannot, however, claim to be certified organic by the USDA because their current definition of organics does not include hydroponics nor does it include nutrients based on mineral salts. Interestingly, in Europe, the Aero Garden is considered organic.

I want one but can I wait till Christmas? Is it organic to grow with artificial light? Is that in harmony with nature?

You can order one whenever you would like. They are available year-round.

The artificial lighting would still be considered organic because the type of lighting does not affect the way the plant processes the light to create sugar. Photosynthesis is how plants use light and water to make sugar. Photosynthesis will still occur, regardless of the type of light used, real or artificial.

i'm curious about the nutrient tablet ,too. not that I'm doubting you, but where did you get this more detailed information? is it true that it's difficult to make a all organic nutrient tablet without clogging the pump of the Aerogarden?

Another really important thing to consider is that as long as you don't have any bugs or disease from indoor plants hanging around your house, there are absolutely no pesticides or fungicides used on these plants. That's a really huge thing for us, first because that's part of being organic, but also because our 3 year old picks nearly any veggie or fruit she can find on plants and just eats it.
